Tesco’s petrol is generally cheaper than the branded garages and allows you to earn 1 Clubcard point for every £2 spent.
Whilst less generous than the 1 Clubcard point for every £1 spent inside the store, this is still a decent return.
There is, however, a secret way to get double points for your petrol purchases!
What you need to do is use your Tesco Clubcard MasterCard credit card as a Clubcard in the garage.
For clarity – you do NOT have to pay for your petrol with your Tesco MasterCard, unless you want to. When the cashier asks for your Clubcard, give him your credit card and ask him to swipe it. It will work OK.
You can then choose to use the MasterCard to pay or to use something else entirely.
When you do this, you receive 1 Clubcard point for every £1 spent in the garage. This is double the usual rate.
Do you have a Clubcard or Nectar credit card? If not, you can receive up to 20,000 FREE points for signing up! Full details are in this article.
