250 Clubcard points and £5 off Google Chromecast – and get £20 of free movies!

Tesco Direct has had a few promotions on Google Chromecast recently.  Back in November I wrote that a deal offering Chromecast with 250 free Clubcard points was good value – it is not often that you see anyone selling Chromecast for less than its £30 recommended retail price.

This offer is substantially better.

250 Clubcard points with Google Chromecast

Take a look at the Google Chromecast page on Tesco Direct here.

They are offering:

£5 off – so you pay just £25 and not the full £30 that it costs virtually everywhere else

250 free Clubcard points, worth up to £7.50 in Boost deals depending on how you redeem them

£20 of free credit towards downloading movies from the Google Play store

All in all, that is a pretty impressive package if you have been thinking about getting Chromecast.

A Chromecast plugs into an HDMI socket on your TV and allows you to send selected content from your laptop, Android phone or Apple / Android tablet to your screen.

The main benefit is for Netflix users who can use it to stream the service directly to their TV from their smartphone or tablet.  We don’t have Netflix, but we find it great for streaming BBC iPlayer to our TV from an iPad or iPhone.  The kids also enjoy streaming YouTube to the TV.

The bonus Clubcard points offer runs until 24th January.  However, in order to claim the £20 of Google Play movie credit you must activate your Chromecast by 15th January, so if you are interested I would order ASAP.

Remember that Clubcard Boost is still running for a couple more days if you want to redeem any unused Clubcard vouchers for double their face value towards this or any other Tesco Direct product.

  1. A half decent offer from Tesco Direct at the moment this is. Like SP has pointed out though, be careful with activating the free £20 google play credit as ifor not activated by the 15th Jan, it’s gone.

  2. If you’re wanting it purely for Iplayer, a NowTV box is easier to use. No need to launch anything from another phone or tablet.

  3. Been considering getting one of these for a while and this deal has finally convinced me to go for it. Thanks!

Picked this up today have to say it’s a nice little device for the price. Amazon Fire Stick does more but this is a good portable solution which works with android and iPhone

  5. Bialynia says:

I bought one in mid December. Nice upgrade to the original Chromecast. It was down to £25 but without the 250 bonus points, just ordered another one as a gift for someone. Thanks!

  1. […] The only downside is that it won’t let you watch Netflix or Amazon Prime videos. If those are the streaming services you are using, an Amazon Firestick would be a better buy (or Google Chromecast if you only want to watch Netflix videos and not Amazon Prime). And as Rob wrote end of December, Tesco also currently does a bonus Clubcard points and money off deal with Google Chromecast. […]
