200 Clubcard points with HP printer inks from £7 – easy to eBay – but IN-STORE ONLY

Tesco Grocery (yes, Tesco Grocery and NOT Tesco Direct) has launched a new offer on HP printer ink cartridges.

You will receive 200 Clubcard points with every HP ink cartridge you buy before 15th May.

HP 364 ink

The cartridges start at just £7 each.  This is the cheapest – the HP 364 at £7 each.

If you have a HP printer then you don’t need to read on.  This is a great deal for you and you should head over to the Tesco Grocery website and stock up on as many cartridges as you need for the next few months.  Delivery can be as low as £1 for off-peak slots.

Or, of course, head down to your local store and save on delivery costs.  Even if there is no poster advertising the deal, you WILL get the bonus points on your receipt.

If you received any coupons through the post recently offering you a discount when you spend £x on in-store shopping, this is a great way of using them.

If you have a coupon – and possibly even if you don’t – there may be some value in selling them on eBay.

Assuming that you would redeem your Clubcard points for one of the better deals at 3 x face value, such as Goldsmiths, this is clearly a non-starter if you would only throw the cartridges in the bin.  You are spending £7 to receive (3 x 200 points =) £6 of Clubcard Boost value.

If you have a coupon, of course, the price comes down.

If you are prepared to get involved in a bit of eBay reselling, it could look even more interesting.

Let’s assume that you sell the £7 cartridges for £4 each on eBay, net of all costs (postage, Paypal, eBay fees etc).  You should obviously do some research first to see which ones fetch the highest prices and seem to sell quickly.

On that basis, you are paying £3 net per cartridge.  Assuming you are using your 200 Clubcard points for a ‘3 x’ Boost deal, you would be making a 100% return on your money – although you are investing your time.  If you used your 200 points for 480 Avios points or 500 Virgin Flying Club frequent flyer miles, you would be paying 0.6p per mile which is OK.

The closing date for this offer is 15th May.

If you are not heading into a Tesco store before next Sunday and cannot find any cheap delivery slots in your area, this is what you could do.  Tesco is currently offering a free one-month trial of Delivery Saver (click here).  Sign up for that and you will receive your grocery deliveries – which can consist entirely on HP printer ink! – for free when you spend £40+.

The Tesco Grocery home page is here.  Type ‘ink’ in the search bar to see what is available where you live.

Thanks to Alex for this.
