Today I am looking at why a subscription to The Daily Telegraph is, in my mind, one of the better value Tesco Clubcard redemptions.
If you’ve looked at our list of Clubcard redemptions ranked by the multiple of face value you receive, you will see that it comes with a caveat.
Not all Clubcard redemptions are as good as they seem.
Let’s take Pizza Express as an example. In theory, you receive 4 x the face value of your Clubcard vouchers when you redeem for Pizza Express meals. In reality, you may receive less because – at least midweek – Pizza Express often has voucher codes or email deals available which cannot be combined with Tesco vouchers.
Similarly, when I looked at redeeming Tesco vouchers for Hilton hotels, you may remember that you need to pay the ‘cancellable’ price with your Clubcard vouchers – even though your stay is not refundable.
In this occasional series, I take a look at my pick of the best Clubcard redemptions in terms of getting a genuine bargain.
The Daily Telegraph – via its digital subscription packs – was added last year as a Clubcard redemption option as you can see here on the Tesco site.
For a flat fee of £20 in Clubcard vouchers, you will receive a ONE YEAR 7-day digital subscription to both the Daily Telegraph and the Sunday Telegraph.
It is difficult to put an exact value on this due to the variety of promotions and pricing options that the Telegraph offers. At present, the Daily Telegraph website charges £150 per year. That means you would pay £165 for your first year – which means you would be getting over SEVEN TIMES the face value of your Clubcard vouchers.
If you bought the physical newspapers for cash, you would be spending well over £10 per week which makes a digital subscription even better value.
The Daily Telegraph isn’t for everyone – it isn’t really my cup of tea to be honest – but if you a fan then you can’t complain about the value offered by this deal.Want to earn more Clubcard or Nectar points?
