Should you convert Tesco Clubcard points into Blackpool Tower Dungeon tickets?

Is it worth converting your Tesco Clubcard points into Blackpool Tower Dungeon tickets? And how do you do it? Today I want to look at whether this is a good use of your Clubcard vouchers.

Not all Clubcard Boost offers are a great deal. This page of Shopper Points helps you decide which is the best Clubcard redemption by listing ALL Clubcard Boost offers based on the multiple of face value you get.

As you can see, offers range from 4 x face value (days out vouchers, restaurant deals) down to 2 x. Even at double the face value, of course, you are getting a better deal than redeeming your vouchers in a Tesco store at face value.

Spending Clubcard vouchers on Blackpool Tower Dungeon tickets

You can convert your Clubcard vouchers into Blackpool Tower Dungeon tickets on this Tesco website.

You will need £5 of Clubcard points for a ticket for either an adult or a child. There is no age restriction, however under 15 year olds are only allowed admission when accompanied by an adult aged 18 and over.

Your ticket will be delivered by post within 5 days of ordering.

The token can only be used against standard admission and not for special events.

Entry is not guaranteed during busy periods due to safety reasons.

The ticket is valid for six months from the day you redeem.

Is Blackpool Tower Dungeon a good way to spend your Clubcard points?

Let’s say ‘it depends’.

A Blackpool Tower Dungeon ticket on the door costs £16.50 (£13.50 for children aged 4-14 and under 3s are free). Booked in avance adult tickets are £13 and children aged 4-14 pay £10.

The advantage of booking in advance is that your entry is guaranteed as you can choose a specific time slot for your arrival. If you have a Clubcard ticket, you might have to queue longer and could end up not getting in at all.

If you have a Clubcard ticket, you can NOT choose a time slot in advance.

The good thing about the Clubcard ticket is its flexibility, as long as you use it within six months. If something comes up last minute, you can always go another day.

On that basis, you are getting 3.3 x face value compared to tickets bought on the door (£16.50 / £5 of Tesco vouchers). This is ok.

However, there are often special offers available on Dungeon tickets.

Some brands of Kellogg’s cereal, for example, currently have a ‘buy a child ticket and get a free adult ticket’ coupon printed on them. Blackpool Tower Dungeon is included. This would more than halve the cost for paying cash if 2 adults and 2 children or 1 adult and 1 child go.

If you want guaranteed entrance, it is worth going for the Kellogg’s ‘Kids go free’ offer instead of redeeming your Clubcard vouchers as you can book those tickets online in advance and choose a time slot. As a ticket for a child booked in advance costs £10, each ticket would be £5. That’s exactly the price you’d pay with the Clubcard tickets plus entry is guaranteed.

There are clearly better ways of redeeming your Clubcard points than for the Blackpool Tower Dungeon and you should consider redeeming for one of the other high value Clubcard point redemptions on our list.
