Should you convert Tesco Clubcard points into WWT London Wetland Centre tickets?

Is it worth converting your Tesco Clubcard points into WWT London Wetland Centre tickets? And how do you do it? Today I want to look at whether the London Wetland Centre is a good use of your Clubcard vouchers.

Not all Clubcard Boost offers are a great deal. This page of Shopper Points helps you decide which is the best Clubcard redemption by listing ALL Clubcard Boost offers based on the multiple of face value you get.

As you can see, offers range from 4 x face value (days out vouchers, restaurant deals) down to 2 x. Even at double the face value, of course, you are getting a better deal than redeeming your vouchers in a Tesco store at face value.

Spending Clubcard vouchers on WWT London Wetland Centre tickets

You can convert your Clubcard vouchers into WWT London Wetland Centre tokens on this page of the Tesco website.

You will need £2.50 of Clubcard points for a £10 Clubcard token which can be used on entry for either an adult or a child (children under 3 are free). Your tokens will be posted to you within 5 days.

The tokens are valid for six months from the day you redeem.

Is WWT London Wetland Centre a good way to spend your Clubcard points?

On the face of it, yes.

You are spending £2.50 in Clubcard vouchers to receive a £10 token. On that basis, you are getting (£10 / £2.50 of Tesco vouchers) 4 x face value. This is great.

However, booking tickets in advance for cash will save you 10%.  These cash tickets can be used on any day within six months, which means they are equally as flexible as Clubcard tickets.  This means the actual face value bonus you get is a bit less than 4 x in reality.

An adult ticket is £13.10 with gift aid and £11.91 without gift aid. A ticket for a child is £7.10 with gift aid and £6.55 without.  It is up to you whether you pay the gift aid element or not – this allows the Centre to reclaim tax relief on your entire entry fee.

As you are receiving £10 tokens from Tesco to be spent on entrance fees, you need to figure out in advance how many you will need to cover your total cost. You also don’t want to have more token value than the actual entrance fee as change is not given.  You will need to do some calculations before your visit in order to achieve the best saving possible.

You won’t find any better discounts on WWT London Wetland Centre tickets – at least as far as I could fine – which means that WWT London Wetland Centre is a good way to spend your Clubcard points.
