Should you convert Tesco Clubcard points into Cutty Sark tickets?

Is it worth converting your Tesco Clubcard points into Cutty Sark tickets? And how do you do it? Today I want to look at whether the Cutty Sark in Greenwich is a good use of your Clubcard vouchers.

Not all Clubcard Boost offers are a great deal. This page of Shopper Points helps you decide which is the best Clubcard redemption by listing ALL Clubcard Boost offers based on the multiple of face value you get.

As you can see, offers range from 4 x face value (days out vouchers, restaurant deals) down to 2 x. Even at double the face value, of course, you are getting a better deal than redeeming your vouchers in a Tesco store at face value.

Spending Clubcard vouchers on Cutty Sark tickets

The Cutty Sark tea clipper in Greenwich, south London re-opened a couple of years ago after a major renovation and a fire.  30 seconds from Cutty Sark station on the Docklands Light Railway, I found it very impressive when I visited last year and it is fun for both adults and children.

You can convert your Clubcard vouchers into Cutty Sark tickets on this page of the Tesco website.

You will need £3 of Clubcard points for a child ticket and £6 for an adult ticket (children under 5 go free). Your ticket will be posted to you within 5 working days days.

The ticket is valid for six months from the day you redeem.

Is Cutty Sark a good way to spend your Clubcard points?

On the face of it, it’s ok.

A Cutty Sark ticket without the suggested additional ‘voluntary donation’ is £12.15 for an adult and £6.30 for a child. If you book online in advance the price is the same but you can jump the queue.

On that basis, you are getting (£12.15 / £6 of Tesco vouchers) 2 x face value with an adult ticket or (£6.30 / £3 of Tesco vouchers) 2.1 x face value with a child ticket.  This is not great although clearly better than using your Clubcard vouchers in a Tesco store for their face value!

There are better ways to spend your Clubcard points. You might want to consider redeeming for one of the other high value Clubcard point redemptions on our list.

How do I book my Cutty Sark tickets via Clubcard?

  1. Well worth a visit. I used to live 30 secs walk away. If you’d like to save your Tesco vouchers for a better redemption there’s also the National Rail 2 for 1 offer. If travelling by DLR, it might even be worth buying two Deptford to Greenwich singles using a Two Together card (it won’t be asked for at the attraction).
