Buy one iTunes gift card at Tesco & get 20% off a second + free album with Google Play gift cards

Tesco Direct has got two offers on gift cards that look quite interesting.

Until 4th September you get 20% off a second iTunes gift card when you buy one of the same price or more and a free album download when you buy a Google Play gift card.

The iTunes offer is an online exclusive and you will not get this offer in-store.

Buy any two iTunes gift cards and get 20% off the lower priced one.

You can choose any amount of up to £100 and then decide how many separate cards / codes you want to have. In this case it is probably the best idea to choose just two.

The gift card can either be posted or you can receive a download code. The latter will save you the delivery charge.

You can order your iTunes gift card on this page of the Tesco website.

You can either buy a £10, £25 or £50 gift card – £10 is clearly the better deal.

The free album must be redeemed within 30 days of purchasing the gift card.

You can order the Google Play gift card on this page of the Tesco website although this offer is also available on Google Play gift cards bought in-store.

As always, you will also receive 150 Clubcard points when you spend £50 on gift cards.

This offer has been running for a few years now and shows no signs of ending, even though it is rarely promoted in stores. It does not include Tesco own-brand gift cards like F+F and other Tesco brands.

How does this offer work?

You need to spend £50 after deducting, in the case of the iTunes card, the 20% saving on the 2nd card

If you spend less than £50, you won’t receive any Clubcard points at all, as you do not receive base Clubcard points on gift card purchases.

You will receive 150 points per £50, so a £100 purchase will earn you 300 Clubcard points

If you buy in-store, the 150 free points are added at check-out. If you order online, the points do not show on your receipt but will be added a few weeks later.

Both offers are until 4th September.

Comments

  1. OT Nectar Amex emailed today offering 30k Nectar for taking the card and spending £2k in 3 months.

    • Weird – I got 20,000 points!

It seemed a bit odd because it spoke about 20k being a special offer until 20th September which it isn’t, it is the permanent offer!

  2. I’ve been buying gift cards online with Tesco for a couple of months now – at least £50 of Starbucks to feed my morning communite caffeine addiction, but no points have posted to Clubcard account yet. Anika says points post a few weeks later. Tesco (or their sub-contractor) asked me to get in touch 30 days later. Done that, still waiting.

    What are others experiences?

    • I’ve not done it but I always buy in store as you get the points then and there and can use Amex to pay.

      • I was doing that, but Statbucks cards in branches of Tesco are very rare now. Seems the company that keeps the cards stocked aren’t that interested in Starbucks cards. Hey ho!

        • I’d suggest getting Costa or Caffe Nero gift cards in store instead – that way, it’s a win-win-win situation for you: the coffee is cheaper, the coffee is infinitely better and you know you’re getting the points there and then.

    • I bought some Debenhams vouchers online via Tesco Gift Card store when they were undertaking their 20% discount online only promo. Waited for the points (gave it 6 weeks) but nothing so phoned and got the points credited manually.
