Last weekend to buy gift cards for the 150 Clubcard points per £50!

As if there hasn’t been enough Tesco related bad news already …. (although the excellent LEGO Friends offer is still running until Sunday!)

This Sunday is the last day to earn 150 Clubcard points when spending £50 on gift cards. We wrote about it two weeks ago and I thought it might be good to write up a final reminder.

gift cards 15 percent off tesco

First Clubcard Boost was scrapped, then TopCashback withdrew the option of converting your cashback into Clubcard points and now this.  They better have something good up their sleeve to make up for it!

Tesco’s offer of 150 Clubcard points when spending £50+ is/was the only way to earn Clubcard points with gift cards.

This very generous deal which allows you to pay for a lot of your non-Tesco spending using gift cards bought in Tesco was rarely promoted and has run for around three years.

Because you aren’t spending any more money than you would otherwise, these are genuinely free Clubcard points.

You can see that Tesco added the expiry date to the gift card promotion on this page of the Tesco website.

After this Sunday (25th September) you won’t earn 150 Clubcard points with gift card purchases over £50 any longer. This is especially annoying as you don’t get any standard Clubcard points with gift cards.

So maybe stock up on gift cards now, bag some extra Clubcard points and have a less stressed December trying to find Christmas presents!  You can either buy your gift cards instore, where you will find the biggest selection, or online here.  Note that Tesco, Xbox and F&F gift cards are excluded.

  1. “Because you aren’t spending any more money than you would otherwise, these are genuinely free Clubcard points.’
Not sure that’s entirely true 😉

    • If you were going to purchase the items direct without buying a gift card then the clubcard points are an extra and obviously have some sort of value.

  2. i’ve just attempted, they charge for delivery..
Does this still apply if purchased in store?

  3. Interestingly, they’ve now changed the promotion to 75 points for £25 gift card purchase – until 16th Oct. Not sure if this means that if I buy £50 worth of gift card I will get 75 points only, or a full 150 points.
And the website doesn’t say whether this is in-store offer as well or not!
