Two competitions for converting Clubcard to Avios – which is best?

If you convert your Tesco Clubcard points into Avios frequent flyer points, there are two competitions on offer this quarter.

avios.com and British Airways Executive Club are both running competitions.  It doesn’t matter which scheme you use to convert your Clubcard points as you can move them between the two schemes using the ‘Combine My Avios’ function online.

Given that, you might as well focus on which competition is most interesting!

Win a 5-star Barcelona holiday with British Airways Executive Club

This is the conversion page for sending Clubcard points to British Airways Executive Club.

The competition has not yet been added to that page but, trust us, it is live and you will be entered.

For every £5 of Tesco Clubcard vouchers you convert before 30th November, you will earn one entry in the draw.  If your Tesco vouchers are set up to auto-convert to Avios via the Executive Club you will receive two entries for every £5 of vouchers.

There is one prize which consists of:

BA Club Europe flights to Barcelona

3-nights B&B in one of three selected five star hotels

to be taken between 1st April and 30th June 2017.

barcelona

If that doesn’t appeal, this is your Plan B:

Win 15,000 Avios (x 25 prizes)

This is the conversion page to send your Clubcard vouchers to an avios.com account.

Again, the competition has not yet been added to the page.  It it happening though!

The competition is simple:

“For every £2.50 in Tesco Clubcard vouchers you exchange between 1-14 November 2016, you’ll not only receive 600 Avios, but also one entry to win one of 25 prizes of 15,000 Avios.”

So, which competition is best?

We don’t know whether more people convert Clubcard points to British Airways Executive Club or avios.com.

However …. if you value the Barcelona package at £1,000 and you value 15,000 Avios points at £150, the value of prizes on offer via avios.com is a lot higher (£150 x 25 = £3,750 vs £1,000 for Barcelona).

Unless you are really keen to go to Barcelona, I would be tempted to convert via avios.com because you are 25 x more likely to be a winner (assuming the same number of people convert via both schemes).  The choice is yours though!

  1. There is no way these poxy competitions are going to influence me to transfer my Clubcard points; the chances of winning must be very small. On the other hand, Virgin have had regular transfer bonuses and hopefully it’s only a matter of time before the next one.
