Amex FX Offer

Special offer: some Clubcard holiday redemptions offering 4x face value

We’ve been focusing a lot on how to get more Clubcard points.  However, those points need to be spent from time to time!  You can find our list of all redeeming partners on this page.

When you look at the page you can see that most holiday redemption are offered at 3x face value.  Until the end of February / early March you can temporarily redeem your Clubcard vouchers with four partners at 4x face value. If you haven’t booked your next holiday yet, this offer might be of interest.

Until 29th February you can exchange your Clubcard vouchers for Al Fresco Travel tokens at 4x face value. If your family loves mobile home holidays and wants to choose from 72 of Europe’s favourite parks in France, Italy, Spain, Holland and Croatia, Al Fresco has got the right holidays for you.

You can use up to £500 in Tesco Clubcard tokens towards accommodation with a minimum stay of 7 nights. Vouchers must be exchanged before 29th February and the holidays booked by 15th March.

If you are planning a short or long break in the UK, you can exchange your Clubcard vouchers at 4x face value at Macdonald Hotels and Resorts. The minimum stay is 2 nights – great for a weekend away.

The tokens are valid until 28th February 2016 for stays until 30th November 2016.  When redeeming your Clubcard vouchers at this hotel you are also entering a price draw to win a 2 nights stay.

If you love adventures and getting to know cultures from a local perspective rather than as a tourist, the following two companies might be of more interest.

Intrepid Travel combines the best known sights with insider knowledge many tourists will not have heard of. Until 5th March Clubcard vouchers can be exchanged at 4x face value.

The maximum redemption value of £800 can be used as part payment for either ‘land only’ or ‘flight inclusive’ packages. You can find 6-8 day ‘land only’ trips for about £650 which means it’s possible to pay for the whole trip with Tesco Clubcard tokens.

For adventurous family holidays you can exchange your Clubcard vouchers at 4x face value with the Family Adventure Company who offer 50 small group family holidays across Europe, Asia, Africa and America. The maximum redemption is £800 per person. An 8 day trip to Morocco starts from £425 pp excluding flights. After 5th March the redemption will go back to 3x face value.

Remember to read all the small print as there are quite a few bits to consider when exchanging your Clubcard vouchers and booking the holidays. For example. you cannot combine the tokens with other offers or promotions which may be running – these would reduce the ‘real’ value from 4x face value to something lower.

All in all, though, these deals are well worth considering if you have a large collection of vouchers to redeem.

  1. Great to see you can still bag a free holiday using clubcard vouchers like the good old days of Thompson and Virgin.

  2. …and XL.

  3. Shame those days are well and truly gone! Just need to put more effort in via Avios to bag a free 5 Star hotel and F class flights for just taxes.

    • Some of these seem OK because they have high maximum spends so might cover a whole trip.

Surprised no-one mentioned Motorpoint above under ‘good old days’!

Bridge The World gets decent feedback as a redemption too. As our Safestore requirements have shrunk I might look at one of these (or possibly Hilton weekend breaks) as a way of working down my balance. Anything to keep my wife out of Goldsmiths 🙂

  4. A note of caution regarding the MacDonald Hotels option…

You can only redeem your hard-earned voucher against nights booked at the published standard rate – which may off-set the benefit of the 4:1 Clubcard redemption.

We had a weekend away booked a while back, and when i looked at the rate available online for the same deal a week or so in advance, I would have been basically throwing the Clubcard points away.

Fortunately, they let me cancel – albeit I had to use the vouchers for another break within a few months. The second time, I just stuck my head in the sand and didn’t look how much the cash price would have been.

On the plus side, I thought their customer service was excellent every time I had to call them to book/cancel/re-book.

    • The Hilton redemption with Clubcard works the same way, albeit that Hilton, outside of sales, do not discount hugely from the cancellable rate.

    • Will Squires says

Same with The Hotel Collection. Incidentally, does anyone know if The Hotel Collection ever boost to 4x? They used to when they were under the Barcelo brand.

  5. I can fully recommend Intrepid – they seem to run the 4x deal a couple of times a year and booked a trip for this September in August last year – managed to use the full £200 CC vouchers for both my wife and I so saved us £1,600 cash. This will be trip number 5 with Intrepid having done trips in the US, Eastern Africa and 2 in SE Asia and have always had incredible trips.

    • Small edit needed – with Intrepid you can’t use the CC vouchers for the deposit (usually £150), so this needs to be on a credit/debit card.
