4000 Clubcard points with Tesco Home Insurance

These days we are able to do pretty much everything online and usually we’d say taking out home insurance is one of those things that can be done with a few clicks. However Tesco Bank seems to be missing its telephone customers and has got a generous offer on their home insurance which can not be claimed or even found online.

Instead they’ve sent out printed leaflets with Tesco online deliveries inviting you to call up.  Unfortunately I do not have a scan, but I do have the information.

home insurance 4000 tesco clubcard points

Until 29th April Tesco Bank is giving 4000 Clubcard points to everyone who takes out home insurance (contents and building) via telephone when quoting the code H4000GR.

This is a very generous deal if you live in a low risk area – especially if you can turn those 4000 points into £120+ of Clubcard Boost deals.  However, because of the need to take out contents and buildings insurance, it is no use if you live in a flat where your buildings insurance is arranged centrally.  There is no offer for just taking out contents insurance.

On top of that Tesco Bank is promising an additional Clubcard holder discount for new and renewing customers – but obviously when taking out any insurance it is worth shopping around and comparing prices. If you want to get a rough quote from Tesco before calling, you can do so on their website – but you must call to buy if you want the 4000 points.

  1. any indication on cancellation rights

  2. I was thinking of having two policies, but would need to do anot online quote first to see if they are low.

  3. Disappointing. Tesco missing out on a whole bunch of contents only customers who will go via cashback sites instead. Still, 2600 cc points via TCB for contents only is better than 2000 direct from tesco, assuming you would otherwise strugglr to reach your TCB tesco limit.

  4. Damn. I just renewed with someone else …

  5. I’d also be interested to know if anyone is aware of the cancellation policy as I may be moving and may move to rented accommodation short-term.

  6. I applied earlier this week and it saved me £120 a year on what I was paying. I applied online. The leaflet I received said to ‘search Tesco Home Insurance to apply’ and quote ‘H4000GR’.

Thanks for the info. Any idea if you can buy now to start a few months down the line when current insurance expires and still get the points? thanks

  7. antalya02 says

Cheers, will check what if any additional costs for cancelling current insurance.

  8. Is it illegal to have two home insurance policies on one dwelling?
Anyone know what their administration charges are for cancelling as would probably take two months plus for the points to hit accounts?

    • No, not illegal insurers have clauses that state if you have overlapping insurance they split claim costs, you don’t double your claim rights

  9. I took out policy for my Mum which she actually needed £104 for buildings and contents with accidental damage for both. cheaper by £30 on last years policy. RESULT!
I did quote online and added the promo code, but phoned up to check, the agent said it had gone through but asked me loads of questions where I got code from. I told her i saw it on some leaflet she seemed a tad miffed for whatever reason. who cares they got Mums money, mum got insurance at a good price and I will have Mums vouchers when they come through! every one happy except agent on phone.

  10. Alan Small says

My TESCO buildings & contents policy renewal comes up next month, does this offer apply to renewals?

    • No, unfortunately not. You may (or may not, I don’t know) be able to cancel – if the policy is in your name only – and take out a new policy in the name of your partner. That’s all I can think of.

      • Alan Small says

If it doesn’t apply to renewals can’t I simply apply as a new customer, I don’t see why I would need to cancel as the policy will expire.

  11. I think they class a new customer who is somebody who has not had the same policy for 12 months or more.
