3000 Clubcard points with Tesco home insurance – now running until 21st June

Remember the Tesco home insurance post in March? Tesco Bank had been sending leaflets with grocery orders offering 4000 Clubcard points when taking out home and contents insurance. This offer was until 29th April (that’s still another week if your insurance is up for renewal this month).

Meanwhile another offer has popped up, which is available until 21st June, offering 3000 Clubcard points with the same insurance.

This is 1000 points less than the previous promotion. I do not know if the 4000 Clubcard points code H4000GR is still valid or if the new promotion means the old one has been scrapped, but if you are looking at taking out contents and building insurance this week it’s definitely worth trying the older code first.

Once this code expires, the code H3000GR will at least still get you 3000 Clubcard points.

If you live in a low risk area, this could still be a nice bonus – especially if you can turn those 3000 points into £90+ of Clubcard Boost deals. However, because of the need to take out contents AND buildings insurance, it is no use if you live in a flat where your buildings insurance is arranged centrally. There is no offer for just taking out contents insurance.

On top of that Tesco Bank is promising an additional Clubcard holder discount for new and renewing customers – but obviously when taking out any insurance it is worth shopping around and comparing prices.

Unlike the old H4000GR code, which insisted on telephone buying,H3000GR allows you to buy your insurance online via the Tesco Bank website and still receive the bonus.  However, you will lose your bonus if you go to Tesco Bank via a financial comparison site.

Remember that this new deal runs until 21st June, so if your insurance renewal date did not fit with the old offer then hopefully you will have more luck here.

  1. The H4000GR code did not insist on buying over the phone. I bought online and got the bonus.

  2. How fast did the points appear in your account

    • I got my 4000 points about a week after the insurance became valid, not from when I ordered it….so the elapsed time was almost 5 weeks.

  3. I used the H4000GR online and points posted within 4 weeks before the first payment was taken.

  4. Hi, do you know if the insurance is easy to cancel if you decide to change your mind after 5 weeks?

    • No, no idea. The pet insurance was easy to cancel but there is no guarantee the rules are the same here.

    • The Ts and Cs say you get a refund of any premium pro-rated but you need to pay an admin fee if you cancel. No idea how much this is. The pay monthly ‘loan’ is hefty as well so we paid in advance. It saved us quite a bit over what we were paying with Halifax +4k cc points.

      • I recall it was about £17

        • Genghis says

It depends how much you’re paying for the insurance in the first place but from memory the loan premium worked out at 10-20%

  5. The 4000 is still working when you phone so long as you pay before 29/4/16. Mine is due mid May so I paid today to insure I got the points. Amazingly they came up as my cheapest insurer on confused but Tesco quoted me a higher price over the phone but still lower when taking off the £40 of points. I am converting them to Avios anyway.

  6. I used the 3000 point code to get a quote for a policy starting on 1st May. I saved the quote and paid (monthly direct debit) the day after. We’ll see when the points post!

  7. The old 4000 code is still valid. I used it online today. After generating my quote online I phoned to check the 4000 points would be added. The lady confirmed she could see the 4000 offer attached to my quote and told me I could just go ahead and complete my purchase online.
