150 Clubcard points with a Panasonic telephone – a deal to avoid!

We have a new nominee in the category ‘worst extra Clubcard points deal’.

The Panasonic KX-TG6823 Trio Cordless Home Phone.

If you want to know why we bother to write about this deal when it is a waste of space, the reason is that we like to remind you every so often that you shouldn’t be blinded by the offer of a few bonus points waved in your direction.

Tesco Direct makes it look like they’ve got a great offer here.

According to their website you save £25 AND get 150 extra Clubcard points.

The Panasonic KX-TG6823 Trio Cordless Home Phone costs £75 at Tesco Direct and apparantly the price has been reduced from £100.

However Amazon and various other online retailer are selling the same telephone for £55.  Amazon has also third partner sellers, not household names admittedly, selling them for as low as £46.

150 extra Clubcard points are not enough to compensate this price difference.

As the extra Clubcard points promotion runs until 30th November, there is a small chance that Tesco goes for a price drop which will make the deal more interesting.  I will keep an eye on it.

There are also bonus points on other variants of this phone (use the same link and toggle via the number of handsets required) – 50 points for a single, 100 points for a double and 200 points for a quad pack.  None of those appear to be great deals either.  The Quad is £69 on Amazon vs £85 on Tesco for example.
