How to earn Clubcard points with new glasses from Tesco Opticians

Tesco is more than Tesco Direct and Groceries. Did you know that you can earn Clubcard points with your prescription glasses and lenses at Tesco Opticians?

If you are wearing glasses or contact lenses, you have probably got an optician already. However it is always good to keep comparing prices and services as you might be better off somewhere else.

What do Tesco Opticians offer that distinguishes them from other opticians?

  • First of all Tesco Opticians offer free in store eye tests. Boots eye tests cost £10 and Specsavers eye tests in are around £20 (unless you find a voucher).
  • For contact lens wearers Tesco Opticians has got a so-called My Lens Plan with regular contact lenses deliveries and monthly payments. (When signing up to My Lens Plan you also get a £10 voucher for non-prescription sunglasses and a £10 voucher for friends or family.)
  • You can earn Clubcard points on all purchases. (In order to earn Clubcard points you need to enter your Clubcard number when registering with Tesco Opticians and 1 point per £1 will be added to your account.)
  • If you buy glasses for £65+ you get a second pair for free

You can browse and order the range of glasses online or find them in one of 200+ stores. Specsavers seems to have a greater range of available glasses with the cheapest costing £25. Tesco Opticians has got decent glasses including prescription lenses for only £15.

These glasses named Connie are part of this £15 range and look alright.

However I’ve found something much better:

Don’t call me obsessed but looking at these frames I wish I had to wear glasses.

These Star Wars glasses cost £65 and have Stormtroopers on the inside which means you can actually get away with wearing them no matter your age.

The best thing is that if you buy glasses for £65+ you get a second pair for free.

If you are wearing glasses or contact lenses, it is worth having a look at Tesco Opticians to find out whether you can save some money whilst also getting some Clubcard points.

Note that Tesco Opticians was recently bought by Vision Express and the stores will be rebranded during 2018, so pick up points whilst you can.

Sorry Anika, but I think you have wasted your time with this article. I received a letter from Tesco Opticians at the beginning of December stating they had been sold to Vision Express and that from 4th Dec it would not be possible to collect or spend Clubcard points. Perhaps an article on the best places to obtain free eye-tests/shopping points would be useful.

  2. Yes our store is also doing this

  3. Not necessarily a waste of time; some stores have not yet changed over (Hatfield Extra, due 13th Jan) so hurry up as once they’re vision express, you’ll no longer get the stock or points!

  4. I work in the Opticians and I can confirm we stopped giving Clubcard points when we were taken over on the 4th of December 2017! Sorry!

  5. Oh, that’s odd as they don’t mention any changes on this website:

Same here. New multifocal glasses and contact lenses over the Christmas holidays from Tesco Opticians. Not cheap either! They didn’t want my clubcard this time and the till receipt reads “Vision Express”.
