New offer – 2,500 Clubcard points with Tesco home insurance

Tesco Bank has (kind of) extended their extra Clubcard points offer with home insurance.

I say ‘kind of’ as the previous code should still be valid until 30th June but Tesco Bank has just launched a new code giving the same bonus.

With the new code you can get 2,500 Clubcard points for taking out a policy by 17th August 2018.

home insurance 4000 tesco clubcard points

This offer is only for a combined content and building policy.

To receive the 2,500 Clubcard points, use the code MAY8P when applying via the Tesco Bank website.

You won’t find the details of the deal on the website, but once you’ve entered the code you should get a message mentioning the points.

This is what the email said Tesco sent to some customers:

Tesco Bank’s buildings and contents cover includes:

• £75,000 new-for-old contents cover as standard, for an additional premium you can increase it to £100,000.

• Unlimited buildings cover as standard – so your home’s structure, fixtures and fittings can be repaired, rebuilt or replaced.

• Fridge and freezer contents cover up to £1,000.

Monetary levels, excesses and exclusions apply.

If you live in a low risk area, this could be a generous deal – especially if you can turn those 2,500 points into £75+ of Clubcard Boost deals. However, because of the need to take out contents AND buildings insurance, it is no use if you live in a flat where your buildings insurance is arranged centrally. There is no offer for just taking out contents insurance.

The T&C’s state that only new customers will receive 2,500 Clubcard points, and new customers who are Clubcard holders get 20% off when buying online.

Obviously when taking out any insurance it is worth shopping around and comparing prices.

Note that you will miss out on this bonus if you go to Tesco Bank via a financial comparison site. Whilst you should feel free to use moneysupermarket etc to compare prices, do NOT click through to Tesco Bank from there.

This offer expires on 17th August 2018.

Did this last year, just got renewal through – Time for the OH to take out the insurance

    • Genghis says:

That’s what we did earlier in the year after doing a quick market comparison and Tesco were cheapest once again. The 2,500 cc points posted quickly.

  2. Steve R says:

To add they are very competitive

  3. Ben E says:

more than double my current renewal

It does annoy me when insurance companies only have a deal for building and contents insurance combined. It’s absolutely useless for the many thousands of us who live in rented accommodation, because we only need contents insurance. The buildings side of it is normally taken care of by the landlord/lady. It’s about time that insurance companies realized this and offered decent deals for us tenants.

  5. Liam R says:

I got this today and it says the code as accepted but no mention of the CC points (or indeed what the actual offer was!?) either at point of purchase or in the ensuing emails. Have been on the phone to home insurance and they suggested just waiting until the August statement to see what happens. Spoke to CC themselves and after checking around they seemed to think there were no offers for home insurance. Anyone know how I can follow this up and hopefully get the points?

    • I had the same problem last year. Rang for a quote and they said the offer was only for targeted customers.

    • Genghis says:

As noted above, we got points. Weren’t targeted for any offer. Experienced same process as you. I wouldn’t waste your time chasing just yet. Wait a month or so as they should post.
