Last chance get 4 x face value for your Clubcard points – How should you spend your vouchers?

This Sunday, 10th June 2018, is the last day to get 4 x face value for your Clubcard points.

From Monday 11th June 2018 all redemptions will be 3 x face value.

The big question is: What shall I do with my Clubcard vouchers?

Don’t think you need a large amount of Clubcard vouchers

Irrespective of how many vouchers you have, there are ways to maximise the value of your points.

In the past you had to have a minimum of £2.50 in Clubcard vouchers in order to redeem them.

You can now find several redemption partners where you can exchange as little as £0.50 for money off vouchers at 4 x face value.

At Knockhatch Adventure Park for example you use your Clubcard vouchers to fully or part pay for tickets. As you can exchange as little as £0.50, you can save money even if your Clubcard points balance isn’t big.

Look out for better deals – a 3x deal may be better than a 4x

The majority of the ‘4x’ offers are for restaurants and ‘days out’ partners, including the Merlin theme parks Annual Pass (just over 3.5x).

For most of the restaurants that take part in the Clubcard scheme, you can find money off vouchers and deals online.

Take Pizza Express for example where you can find offers for your local restaurant on the Pizza Express website. As you cannot use your Tesco Clubcard vouchers for set menus (except for the Piccolo menu) or in conjunction with any other promotion you won’t be getting a full 4 x face value if you use your Clubcard vouchers.

Two other examples are Cafe Rouge and Zizzi where you can get a 25% off voucher on their websites.  There are also no shortage of restaurant deals available via ‘daily deals’ sites such as Groupon.

Focus on where no discounts are around

London Zoo is a good example for a Clubcard redemption where you do get 4 x face value.

As you won’t find many offers or vouchers for London Zoo elsewhere, since it is not very aggressive in its promotional activity, you can get a genuine 4 x face value for your Clubcard points.

London Zoo does give a 10% saving when booking online. But booking in advance commits you to a particular day whatever the weather. Using Clubcard tokens is flexible as long as you use them within six months. The discount you get for booking for cash in advance is small and makes little difference to your overall return. Our London Zoo redemption review is here.

Althorp Estate and London Bridge Exhibition are two further examples of real 4 x face value redemptions that are worth considering because they do not discount heavily elsewhere.

A 3x redemption may still be better than a last-minute panic 4x redemption …..

Finally, remember that you shouldn’t panic to make last-minute redemption this weekend, simply to get 4x face value on your vouchers.

There are some 3x deals – such as Uber credit – which are ‘genuine’ 3x deals.  There aren’t any other ways to save money on Uber.  Similarly, hotels.com is a relatively genuine 3x deal although you don’t earn Hotels.com Rewards points.

Keeping hold of your Clubcard vouchers and using them for a ‘genuine’ 3x redemption later on may still be a better deal than using them now for a 4x deal such as Pizza Express which can be beaten by money off coupons or deals elsewhere.

If the 2x are going to 3x then Airport Parking should be a good one. They have always been pretty close the actual price

    – Uber credit from Zeek (2% discount) which has come from T C B (15% bonus)?
    – Hotels.com = c.2.5x given as you say you don’t get the hotels.com rewards points or any cash back.
