Travel Money Rate Sale at Sainsbury’s Bank – plus win 1 Million Nectar points!

Sainsbury’s Bank has launched another Travel Money Sale.

For 96 hours only (of which 48 hours have already gone!) you can purchase foreign currencies at discounted rates with 0% commission. This offer is only available online and by phone. The number to call is 0345 355 2463. The offer is NOT available in store. The sale ends at 9.30am on Friday 24th August.

96 hour travel rate sale

Sainsbury’s Bank travel money is a convenient way to buy foreign currency with 0% commission – on small orders, 0% commission can make up for a slightly poorer exchange rate. Over 50 currencies are available in store, online and over the phone. You can either have the money delivered to your door or collect it at one of over 200 in-store travel money bureux.

Home delivery is free on orders of £500 or more and there’s a £1.99 administration fee on online orders under £200 when collecting in store. You need to order online by 2pm and 2.30pm by phone (Mon-Thurs) for next day home delivery. If you collect in store you need to present your Nectar card, a valid photo ID and the card you used to pay for the transaction.

And earn not many Nectar points ….

You can collect Nectar points on every in-store bureau, phone and online order, but the Nectar earning rate is actually not that great. Who am I kidding? It is terrible.

Sainsbury’s bank has changed the earning rate making it simpler. Now you get 10 Nectar points for every full £100 in store and 5 Nectar points for every full £100 online and by telephone.

Note that the Travel Money Sale is only available online and by telephone!

Sainsbury’s does offer Nectar card holders a better rate on foreign currency purchases when buying online or over the phone. If you buy at the bureau, Nectar card holder rates are only available on Euros and US dollars. Note that the points may take up to 60 days to appear on your account.

20p of points for changing £800 for example is terrible, although you might as well take the points if you are using Sainsbury’s Bank.

And a prize draw

If you can see this offer on your Nectar page and exchange at least £350 by 31th August 2018, you can enter a prize draw giving away 1 million points to one lucky winner.

PS. Boots is running a one day bonus Advantage Points promotion tomorrow, Thursday 23rd August. All electrical beauty products will come with triple points! More information will be on this page tomorrow.

  1. You would be throwing good money away to buy currency from Sainsbury’s just for a few points. I have just bought 25000 Thai Baht from air money part of City Forex for next day delivery for £604.57, Sainsbury’s wanted £622.71 and unbelievably Thomas cook £645.30 although you would get a £15 feel unique voucher which I would personally would not have use for.
